Magazine Cover Illustration for Hermès Paris

At Studio Duco, we were thrilled to create the cover illustration for Threads of Empire, Dorothy Armstrong’s exploration of empires through 10 ancient art carpets, by Macmillan Publishers.

Our goal was to illustrate a cover that reflects both the historical depth and the artistic beauty of the carpets featured in the book.

We focused on merging the intricate patterns of these ancient textiles into a cohesive visual, symbolizing the interconnected histories and cultural narratives Armstrong examines. The result is a design that captures the richness of the book’s subject matter while remaining visually compelling.
