We’re thrilled to announce our involvement in the upcoming release of The Threads of Empire, written by Dorothy Armstrong and published by Macmillan Publishers. This spellbinding book, set to release on February 27, 2025, takes readers on a captivating journey through history, all woven together through the stories of twelve extraordinary carpets.
As an illustration studio, we had the honor of contributing to this incredible project by creating the cover illustration. We poured our creativity into bringing the essence of the book to life, reflecting its beauty, intrigue, and rich history. It was a fascinating experience to help shape the visual identity of a work that explores the powerful and enigmatic role carpets have played throughout time—symbols of power, status, and spirituality, crafted by the hands of humble weavers.
In The Threads of Empire, Armstrong masterfully unravels the stories behind these remarkable objects, examining how they shaped the lives of emperors, kings, and commoners alike. From ancient carpets found in Scythian tombs to those that stood under the feet of world leaders at the 1945 Yalta Conference, this book uncovers the hidden, untold history of some of the world’s most coveted textiles.
